Circling The Wagons

During times of crisis when dissent emerges, leaders and staff tend to circle the wagons and to stop listening to negative news.  It's happening now.

The Meaning Of Words

A Federal judge schooled the Trump administration on the meaning of words in the law.

Pressure

Tell war news the way we want or we'll come after you. Pressure on journalists and broadcasters from the Trump administration. The White House is obsessed with control and doesn't care about the First Amendment.  But, we knew that, didn't we?

He Said It.

Aaron Judge, the star baseball player, said the World Baseball Classic, which pits international teams against one another is better than the World Series.  That's not what Major League Baseball wants to hear.  MLB wants to preserve the World Series as the premier playoff of the sport.  I know this because I attended early discussions over creating the WBC.  MLB may have been far more successful than it intended.

Forgotten

Forgotten war.  The White House bears much responsibility for what happens in Ukraine.

Underestimated

No surprise.  Trump and his advisers underestimated Iran's military capability and desire to fight.  Now, Iran has shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a choke point for much of the world's energy supplies.    Trump can bluster all he wants and Hegseth can continue to cite statistics but if the tankers don't go through, the world suffers.

Which Is It?

Trump and Hegseth can't seem to agree on the duration of the war.  Trump himself is sending conflicting signals.  Not a way to communicate to voters and allies.

Mockery

This mocks Trump's desire to have input on the new leader of Iran.  Nothing short of boots on the ground and all-out war will accomplish what Trump wants and even then, regime change is never certain.  Trump is a fool playing President.

He Won't Listen

He won't listen.  The shovel is in the ground.

Supine

Congress has the constitutional duty to declare war but it is supine before Trump.  When will it stand up again?

Who Knows?

Is Iran seeking peace?  No one knows for sure, but even if it is, Trump and Netanyahu aren't listening.  They are fixated on their desire to wipe out multiple levels of Iranian leadership.  It's an example of mistrust of communications between opponents when a war is underway.

Rich Get Richer

The rich get richer and the bottom 99 percent are left to struggle.  Wyoming is the example of that.  The wealthy in America have had a history of giving back.  Will they do it this time?

Rambo?

Trump's militaristic approach to regime change in Iran generates questions about his strategy.  He has killed the top leader and several of his henchmen but will that make a difference when real power apparently resides with the Revolutionary Guard?  It is not clear at this point in the bombing campaign whether the guard has been destroyed.  Secondly, Trump has called for Iranian citizens to rise up and take control of government.  They did rise earlier this year and hundreds to thousands were slaughtered in the streets.  Dare they do it again when the remnants of power are still willing to kill protestors?  Third, as American history has shown time and again, even with boots on the ground, there is no guarantee Trump can establish a democratic government.  Bombs are never enough.  Is Trump a Rambo president?
