Bitter End?
SonyBMG's effort to prevent copying of its music has come to this? It's a bitter end for the company, and it doesn't help the firm's reputation at all. Worse, it doesn't solve the problem of how to protect copyrighted material without angering your customers. Sony's PR problem might be intractable in the internet age. Frankly, I don't know what one has to do to thread this needle. There doesn't appear to be a short-term answer.
Comments:
One answer to (not for) SonyBMG is Magnatune (http://magnatune.com). No DRM, cheap downloadable music, a differentiated licenses model etc.
But I guess that it's not what SonyBMG is looking for; and I don't expect them to make up their minds.
