Calendars are constructs, as we all know, and there is little reason to hail the beginning of a new year and the end of an old one. But, we do. Humans have need for fooling themselves, a fact PR plays on too often. But then, we're not paid in PR to be realists: We're paid to monitor and foster relationships between and among organizations and individuals. Relationships can be built on fictions, as long as everyone agrees to the fiction. Celebrity culture is nothing more than that, for example. That written, Happy New Year!
