Newspaper Mashups 

I wrote about mashups earlier as a technique that PR should be using. It turns out that newspapers are doing it already.

Mashups are a great way for passionate customers to express themselves and create a powerful testimonial for a brand.

PR people are a long way off from giving up enough control to let their target audiences do this.

Short of blogging, our messages are scrubbed, edited, proofed, and reviewed by legal before ever seeing the light of day.

Consumer generated media like blogs are helping PR people see the value of letting go (if you let go, the masses give you permission to make mistakes, it's called authenticity and transparency!). But we're a few BIG steps away from giving our ultimate customers the tools and ability to really get creative.
