Dictator
Why bother having elections in Russia when the result is a foregone conclusion? Putin is running again. Putin will win. In a country where free speech is punished and opposition squelched, there is nothing to do except vote for the incumbent. Thus, the power of a dictator. One might ask how the public can accept the outcome. The answer is the public has no choice. The democratic fig leaf of holding elections is an embarrassing propaganda show. Some day, Russians will ask how they let it happen but that won't be for years yet. Putin has a lock on power and speech and there is nothing to be done.
