Sending A Message
Russian military tactics in Ukraine are sending a message to all other border nations of the country. "We will grind you to rubble. There will be nothing left of your cities, not buildings, not infrastructure, not citizens." It is a brutal war of attrition. As long as Russia has artillery shells and rockets, it will continue to pummel everything, an old-style of warfare but successful nonetheless. The Russians have secured the Donbas and are pushing on leaving the shell of broken cities behind them. It will take decades to repair the damage and there is a question whether it will be done at all. The message is one of fear. It is saying, "Don't cross us or you are next." The Russians want neighboring nations to be afraid, deeply afraid, and it is working.
