Rumor
“Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." This quote attributed to Mark Twain also applies to President Trump who was rumored to be dead over the Labor Day weekend. It is symptomatic of the wild rumors that presidents have to deal with. The internet has let loose such raging falsehoods and given them international credibility. It is a burden on communicators that won't go away and requires deft and immediate handling, including in the president's case making an appearance on Tuesday to answer a reporter's question, "When did you find out you were dead?"
